Mode raya agak relax. Sumayyah got special pass to sleep over at K.Di's for 2 nights!
The kids also had fun at Tiram Water Park, courtesy of Alol & Ayeen.
Abi and Umi surrender nak gi Water parks...Lepak jer kat rumah dengan Hamza.
Also, we went to Benut to see my grandparents. On the way to Benut, we saw this sign board "Muzium Bugis"and "Muzium Nanas". Macam menarik... :) Balik dari rumah Embah, kami detoured ke Bandar Pontian and cari Muzium2 ni...ha, dah masuk cuti sekolah mode. Tu yang extra adventurous...
We didn't intend to find both museums. Mana2 ajelah yang jumpa. Jalan punya jalan, terjumpa Muzium Nanas, at a time we almost gave up. Punya lah direction tak cukup.
The muzium opens on normal office hours. Sementara tunggu bukak, Zubayr posing dulu kat luar muzium...

Ni bukan pokok nanas, tak tau kaitannya dengan muzium ni... :)

En Ahmad, the caretaker of the museum is one very friendly person.
First we were shown the gallery..quite a lot of info on just pineapples! If u think u know a lot about pineapples, well think again! :)
found out my SIL's name, Pina means Pineapple in some language (Tagalogue kut).. :)
there are edible pineapples like n36 and kristal..and pineapple trees just for deco - with the buah so kiut besar tapak tangan je.
we also found out pineapples used to be produced mainly by small pekebun, but has been taken over by large estates.

belek punya belek, suddenly we saw this very familiar face on the gallery wall.

That's a pic of Atuk (my FIL! - in brown batik) who was in the government service way back in 1992. :) Nice surprise for cucu2 atuk.
Below, Umar looking at samples of Nanas2 yang tak menjadi.

Stages of pineapple trees...

Among the many more interesting facts about pineapples is that you don't only get the fruits, but you can also make baju out of pineapple leaves! Yes, by painstakingly removing the skins on the leaves to get the threads...Umar trying out the process of removing the skins....

Tadaaa! The benang/threads from the pineapple leaf...! Subhanallah...

Forgot to take pic of the actual baju made out of such benangs...
Said that in the good ole days, org2 kaya je pakai kain2 dari benang nenas ni...
Finally, before we leave, Umi got herself some 'souvenirs'...for RM2 each, i got 2 anak pokok nanas jenis Hana. Ni nanas hiasan je tak leh makan...En Ahmad seen below removing the daun2 anak pokok yang panjang sebelum dijual.

Also, in my hand is nanas jenis N36, yang ni jenis boleh makan...
tak tau le tumbuh ke tak di Kuantan nanti. But En Ahmad assured me that nanas ni memang tahan lasak. Bagus tu, harap2 berbuah ya!
OK tu je lah...next time gi Benut, nak cari Muzium Bugis pulak..!
