Tadarrus @ Yayasan Pahang

Received sms'es from k. Aishah, our Ketua Wanita Negeri last week. She needs confirmation how many will attend the tadarrus organised by YB Shafiq. I was tempted to say no as i wanted to enjoy the Nuzul Quran public holiday,...but finally i went. Alhamdulillah, JIM Pahang sent complete 10 delegates as required plus 2 ustazah (although they require only 1)...

Went to pick up K. Aishah, Ustzh Ain and Alia. We arrived at Yayasan Pahang building, Tanjung Lumpur at just past 8am. Event officiated by wife of MB Pahang. Although, personally, the only thing i know of the MB is his infamous pic and that he attempted to get the govt's Highspeed Broadband Project from er, u know who...

The turn-up was good; estimated 60 groups (NGOs, institutions, govt agencies etc) x 10 people = 600 people. Each group was given 10 pages to read, hence 1 page per person. We were given more than 2 hours so u can imagine how restless we were as the reading took slightly more than 1/2 hour. Alhamdulillah, our ustazah explains the meaning of those ayat we read to fill the time. Our tadarrus group almost turned to be a mini usrah..:) Actually we were asked to read the same 10 pages for the 2nd, 3rd time...(change page among members) if we are done early. We didn't do that, he he he... i am more interested to cover my personal AQ as i am left behind by 6 juzu'.

Oops, forgot to mention our group members : K. Aishah, K. Yah (photographer), K. Akhmar, K. Asiah, K. Wan Zarina, K. Jamilah , Cikgu Jamilah (from Paloh Hinai), K. Jah, Alia and myself. our assignment was surah az-Zumar (39:14) to surah al-Ghafir (40:25).

Later, majlis khatam quran led by 7 state/district qari'ah . AMazing voices, makhraj and tajwid...we also had tazkirah by the ustaz (cldn't remember his name) after that...he reminded us to learn tarannum / 'to sing the correct tune' while reciting quran, to be more appreciative of its beauty. he advised us to be patient and not gopoh, as even the qari takes 5-10 years to fully grasp the correct 'singing' style...anyhow, i believe, ada pahala, as long as we put some effort / want to impove, insya Allah.

The programme ended just before Zuhr prayer. We went home after receiving the pretty bunga telur, and a scoop of bunga rampai. Oh yes, we were given a free hand-written Quran each.

in the do'a khatam Quran, we amin-ed also the sentence ' ya Allah, jgnlah Engkau jadikan orang yg tidak mempunyai belas kasihan kpd kami menjadi pemimpin kami' - and i was suddenly reminded of those who have been detained under ISA, some for more than 6 years...

said ameen, ameen, ameen to that...
